The lead singer of Friendly Fires wants to be George Michael so bad it’s shocking that this video isn’t about cruising tearooms.
Orientalist videos featuring tribal-mask-wearing aboriginal drumlines from Australian bands aside, I am very much in favor of Friendly Fires’ tribal-house-punk thing. Perhaps that thing will always be a little politically fraught? Still, their concert was probably the best I’ve seen all year.
