Fuck Buttons, “Olympians”
Once upon a time, in the days when DFA remixes were melting down dancefloors left and right, and when Britney Spears was only a little bit stupid but still seemed to be mostly in control of her faculties, a rumor began circulating that Brit Brit was going to collaborate with James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy on tracks for her new record. I’m given to understand that Britney did meet the DFA people to try to work together but that she was immediately distracted by shiny things and nothing ever came of it. Nevertheless, it was an amusing rumor.
Let’s start a new one.
I heard that Lady Gaga has been listening to the mind-expanding crystalline beauty of Fuck Buttons’ Andrew Weatherall-produced Tarot Sport through her Beats by Dre Heartbeats by Lady Gaga [headphones] and is dying to work with them. She thinks they can help her create a sound that is actually her own, and is feeling like she has generally left avant-garde sound designers/musicians out of the rapidly mounting exploitationfest that is her career. They’ll be in the studio soon, and no doubt the majestic, icy power of “Olympians” will learn some new steps as the Lady herself takes this sound to the Top of the Pops.
